Experience
5+ years

I build and maintain enterprise-scale ground training and simulation systems for military aircrews in the US, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. I like the unglamorous parts: reproducible installs, clear documentation, and systems that pass their audits.

After leaving Boeing I spent time in Tokyo finishing a full-time web development bootcamp and studying Japanese. Now I'm applying that infrastructure background to Kubernetes, automation, and reliability work.

Track record

  • 100+ aircrew and operators trained on a platform I led
  • 40% shorter training time after a legacy system upgrade
  • Months to days for in-house software setup on Kubernetes
  • 50% faster laptop provisioning through automation

Areas of work

Cloud native

Kubernetes and containers

Integrated VMware-hosted Kubernetes (Rancher) clusters into existing enterprise environments, and researched containerized deployment for in-house software.

Infrastructure

Servers and networks

Linux and Windows administration, Active Directory, DHCP and DNS, bare-metal provisioning with RAID, SCSI, and SAN.

Security

Compliance and audits

Group Policy built to DISA STIG criteria, audit remediation, and a formal Authorization to Operate (ATO).

Automation

Repeatable builds

Custom Linux and Windows images, PowerShell install and domain-join workflows, and documentation that cut setup time by 40%.

Projects

Things I've built and shipped, from a bootcamp web app to research hardware.

Projects

Airbnb clone

Full-stack Airbnb clone, designed, built, and shipped to production during a full-time coding bootcamp.

  • Ruby on Rails
  • Stimulus.js
  • Bootstrap
  • SQL
  • Heroku
Projects

Raspberry Pi parallel computing cluster

Four-node cluster for high-performance computing research, running distributed programs that demonstrate task parallelism. Placed 2nd overall at a regional HPC competition.

  • C
  • Raspberry Pi
  • Parallel computing
Projects

Cloud-enabled media sharing app

Android app with real-time media upload, retrieval, and display, built solo as a final project.

  • Java
  • XML
  • Firebase
  • Android Studio

Experience

  1. Apr 2023 – Dec 2025

Career break: language study and web development

    • Completed a full-time coding bootcamp: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript ES6, Stimulus.js, SQL, Git, GitHub, Heroku, and Ruby on Rails.
    • Designed, built, and shipped an Airbnb clone and a full-stack Rails final project to production.
    • Studied Japanese from beginner to intermediate, including business honorifics and reading and writing in Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji.
  2. Jul 2017 – Mar 2023

    Boeing: Systems and Software Engineer

    • Led development and delivery of maintenance training and datalink testing systems for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, including the first educational ground systems training platform.
    • Directed the upgrade of ground training systems at Tinker Air Force Base, replacing legacy systems.
    • Configured Active Directory users, groups, and permissions, and wrote custom Group Policy settings to deploy policy consistently across large infrastructure.
    • Set up DHCP and DNS, Linux imaging boot servers, and Rancher Kubernetes clusters inside existing enterprise environments.
    • Managed bare-metal provisioning for Windows and Unix aircraft training systems, then built rack and network systems from architecture plans.
    • Remediated audit findings to secure a formal ATO, and advised the cybersecurity team on annual security inspections. Won company awards for inspection results.
    • Wrote the guides that took in-house software setup on Kubernetes from months to days.
    • Cut laptop provisioning time by 50% with custom Linux LiveCDs, Windows ISO builds, and PowerShell automation.
    • Served as lead technical representative in US Government system tests, and as a primary contact for client training and support.
  3. Sep 2016 – May 2017

    Undergraduate researcher

    • Built a cloud-enabled media sharing Android app with Java, XML, and Firebase, handling design, development, and deployment alone.
    • Engineered a four-node Raspberry Pi cluster in C for parallel computing research. Placed 2nd overall at a regional HPC competition.
    • Presented a machine learning research poster at a statewide research day. The work is archived in the university's digital repository.
